What kind of Wake are you leaving behind you?

The wake you leave behind you in life!

Are you leaving a turbulent wake of hurt, disparaged, saddened, and belittled souls behind you?

What has become apparent to me over the last few years is that God doesn't care about your money, titles, material accomplishments, power, personal gain, or control over other people. Nor does he give you any credit for your promotions, raises, achievements, and awards. They mean little if anything at all. What I think God does care about is how our interactions with others affect them and others in very deep ways. I have come to believe that the things that especially displease God are some people's ability to hatefully put other people in their place, belittle them, hurt their feelings, ruin their day, or worse, their life. Every single interaction you ever have or will ever have with another human being affects that person and their spirit! Did you lift them up or pull them down? Did you brighten their day or cast a shadow on it? Were you able to leave them feeling better or worse, happy or sad? The ripple effect of this can be very, very deep.

Are you leaving a smooth, harmonious wake of happiness, self-worth, respect, helpfulness, charity, kindness, and love in the souls of others?

What's in your rearview mirror?
The wake of your life is similar to what you leave behind you while driving. Did you mindlessly drive so slow that the folks behind you didn't make the green light they should have easily made? Have you cut someone off, leaving them with a week's worth of scattered groceries and broken eggs in their back seat? Have you done any of this without even knowing it? Or worse yet, have you done it on purpose because of your own uncaring self-centeredness?

My point is that when you start looking at the many documented Near Death Experiences, one of the first things experienced when meeting Jesus is your life review. Many people who go through NDEs speak of experiencing the life review as not from their own viewpoint but as being from the point of view of others who were there at that moment. Imagine reviewing your life from the point of view of others who were not only present but most affected by your actions. Seeing and feeling it from their perspective, feeling every emotion, thought, and the full repercussion your actions or inactions had on them over time.

Matthew 22:37-40
37. Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38. This is the first and great commandment. 39. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

1 John 3:18
18. Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.
